Her Spark Taking TikTok by Storm

Her Spark volunteer and social media guru Crystal Wright talks about the launch of Her Spark’s TikTok account.

What’s all the hype about TikTok?

TikTok danced onto the scene in 2016 and took off around the world. The video-sharing social networking app allows users to create short videos with music or animations in the background. The app currently has 689 million active users and set the stage for numerous viral memes, lip-synced songs and comedy videos.

So why is Her Spark on TikTok?

We always encourage our Sparklers to try something new, so we figured we’d take our own advice! Just like with anything new, there will be some growing pains and opportunities to understand the best way to create content can be difficult for us not-so-young ladies. Sometimes it can take me anywhere from 30-60 minutes to create one 30 second video! Tips and ideas are more than welcome.

There is so much amazing content on TikTok, and it provides a platform for numerous underrepresented groups, women in STEM included! From STEM-focused accounts like @CBSUnstoppablem and @tech.unicorn, to educational accounts like @instituteofhumananatomy, it’s a place to explore new interests and meet like-minded people.

The main goal of our TikTok channel is to connect with our Sparklers. We want to be able to connect with our girls, see what is going on in their world and share our news with them. And of course, as always, we want to have fun!
